Michael Riedel does a great, though snarky, job of explaining why so many Broadway shows are closing:  because they suck. I have been behind in reviewing the shows I’ve seen recently, but two of them - “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” and “Scottsboro Boys” are both referenced in the article as shows that should have stayed off Broadway.  I said the exact same thing...

Having done a lot of flying in the Middle East, I must say that their system is much better than that of America — but nothing like what they have in Israel. This makes complete sense to me. Very interesting read to see how another culture views and handles airport security.

DMB at MSG
This past weekend I saw my 17th Dave Matthews Band show and my first at Madison Square Garden…. in one word, it was: amazing. First of all, Madison Square Garden is a very iconic venue, so I was very excited about just seeing a show there.  As a whole, the place was fine.  It is sort of a dump and some pretty bad acoustics, but overall, still a decent place to see a show (for an arena). ...

The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear
As many of you know, I am a huge Daily Show fan, so when Jon Stewart announced his Rally to Restore Sanity, I knew I had to be there.  Luckily, I knew I’d be in New York by that point, so that made getting to DC a lot easier and cheaper than from Los Angeles. I left NYC Friday night on a very crowded Megabus down to DC.  I would say that everyone on the bus and everyone on previous and...

My NYC Apartment
Finally, I feel that my apartment is at a place where I can share pictures of it with the general population (i.e. the 10 people who read this blog (it’s more than 10, but not much - haha)). It’s small … but it’s all mine and in a great neighborhood … so I’m very very happy there. Looking from bedroom … through living room .. to kitchen and bathroom .. ...

twentyfourbit: My Morning Jacket wrapped up a 5-night, career-spanning stint at NYC’s Terminal 5 on Saturday night with a cover-to-cover run through their last studio album, Evil Urges, plus a few encores featuring 2 new songs, “Friends Again” and “Circuital,” as well as a slew of covers by the likes of Wham!, the Velvet Underground, Curtis Mayfield, Sly & the Family Stone, Al Johnson, and...

Muse
This weekend was amazing.  I saw My Morning Jacket Saturday night and then saw Muse Sunday night … wow. Muse is easily one of my top 5 bands and really the only one at the top that I had not seen live yet.  I keep missing them … or they sell out instantly … either way, Ticketmaster gave me a small miracle and I was able to get a floor GA ticket just days before the “sold...

My Morning Jacket
This weekend, I went to my 4th My Morning Jacket show …. these guys continue to amaze me.  This show, though, was a bit unique, because they played their most recent album, Evil Urges, all the way through. Every night leading up to this one, they had played another of their previous albums … love that concept and think more bands should try it. After they played the album, they...

What Is It About 20-Somethings? - NYTimes.com →
Good article, though a little fat on science and not enough about actual 20-somethings.  The cover photo is great, because it shows a wide variety of 20-somethings and you think you’ll hear some of their stories or why they think we live a certain way … but no, just science … interesting none-the-less.

Monday night, a big group of us went out to WeHo to meet Glenn’s bestie. We had a lovely dinner at City Wok and then drove Glenn’s new car to Sunset Blvd. We sat down with huge margaritas (that included a burrito), miller lite and great conversations! Afterwards we walked over to The Standard and checked out the rooms.  HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! They were awful! I was shocked at the...

I would agree 100% with this writer’s review of the show.  I’m not a big fan of U2 to begin with, I quickly learned that 2.5 hours of their music is enough to drive anyone crazy … but I wanted to see the technical portions of the show.  Beautifully produced, if not distracting …. think KA - beautiful to watch, but no substance.
